RFAW - Champions 2nd Year in a row!

It's amazing.. I'm still exhausted from the race. My whole body is numb, but it was well worth it as we have another year of bragging rights!

The race was very different from last years. It covered a much smaller geographic area, this meant more running and less TTC. There were more checkpoints, so
it took us about the same time to complete. We started off at a park in Forest Hill
(St. Clair/Spadina), and proceeded to run around the city finishing up
at Ashbridges bay. Some of the highlights were:
- eating fermented soybeans (a Japanese delicacy - I thought it tasted
like mocha coffee Ice Cream, the rest of the team thought it tasted
really bad and almost threw up)
- rebuilding a Lego structure with a completely new team (they split
each team into new teams for this task)
- counting soybeans at the park between Metro Hall and Roy Thompson
Hall (pigeons started eating our soybeans so we couldn't get an
accurate count!)
- running from queen/river all the way to Riverdale farm (did you
know they have an actual farm there with animals!.. very cool).
- The best was thinking we were 2nd or 3rd and running up to the
finish line realizing we won!

We were surprised we won because both the 1st and 2nd place team left
before us from the last checkpoint. We assumed we'd be 3rd, but we
took a different route (south on broadview, across queen, down coxwell
to ashbridges bay). Seems, the 2 other teams decided to go north to
the danforth subway line and take the woodbine bus to ashbridges, we
beat em by a few minutes! yeah baby! We had a nice bbq after that and
wished for massage therapists to be on site!

It seems we're getting older and suffering more injuries. We committed to entering the race again next year to defend our title. We'll think about retirement plans after next years race.

off to get some more sleep (aching body!)
